STILL no movie quiz! D:

But rather something much more edifying!

In case you are one of the few rare people who both A) cares about this information and B) didn't know it yet, [livejournal.com profile] lukadia has given a certain Banrai a Verrah Verrah Thorough Trouncing, in the form of an eye-poppingly well researched and MOSTLY restrained article cataloguing her many forays into art thievery (favoring the ones against Aido). It's pretty much the definitive work on the subject and is, as the French say, worth reading.

But if you are not one of those people, then go away!

Movie quiz 2 will be soon, rather than now.

Okay, so there's Mozilla, right?

And in the address bar, before the url, it has this little icon that represents whatever site you're on. For all bookmarked things it has a generic green bookmark on a yellow piece of paper or something, but other than that it's scarily thorough. No matter how personal or obscure your site may be, Mozilla uses its creepy Mozilla powers to come up with a tiny 5x5 or so icon that relates to its content or visual theme.

I KNOW not every web designer creates one of these for that express purpose, or even knows that some browsers have this feature. So where do they all come from??

What those dang movies were

Okay, so the response to that movie thingie was less than spectacular. I can understand about the really obscure ones, but geez, you guys missed some CLASSICS. You need to GET ON THE BALL!

...Anyway. Here are the answers. )

I'm THINKING about doing this again, 'cause I thought of a lot of movies I wished I'd used instead, but I'm not sure anybody would care. o_o Would you care?

The Happy Meme~!

[livejournal.com profile] dhio's very good idea. :) To counter all the drama and woe out there, post things that make you happy!

First off, let's have a look at the OTTER thread, 3 months old and going strong. Cutenesses galore (once the opening commentary dies down)-- mostly, as you might expect, of otters.

Second, I made kind of a fuss over Dragostea Din Tei a few days ago, various versions of which are still being passed around, I think. (Very small cut.) )

And now, finally, we have what is POSSIBLY the greatest song ever composed by man. No, seriously, watch out.

That movie thingie

This meme is like forever old, but I'm gonna do it anyway! Answer with the titles and I credit you. And of course, I recommend all of these movies if there are some you have not seen. :}

EDIT: Oh yes, and looking them up is cheating, so please do not do that. :p

1. "I read that sea turtles navigate thousands of miles on instinct!"

2. "Joooe~! I'm in one of these boxes! Find me!"

3. "Lay this pool cue across the top of our heads!"

4. "I don't think she finish her psalm yet."

5. "It is the wind of Independence... and it carries aloft the bird of Freedom! which will drop the egg of Democracy on YOUR HEAD!"

6. "...One thing I can't stand, it's people groveling." (-[livejournal.com profile] oraclegoddess :D)

7. "Well-- it needs work. I have to go."

8. "Who died and made you Ed McMann?"

9. "WE thought... YOU was... a TOAD!!" (-anonymous?)

10. "Wings? ...I don't have wings!"

11. "And I got a permanent just for the occasion!"

12. "Aye... sea turtles." (-[livejournal.com profile] renshai :D)

I am really sucking at life lately.

By which I mean, I have failed the Straw Insertion Test on the last several Capri Suns I've had.
Bah.

--Oh, and that song they added into Beauty and the Beast (which I watched last night or so)? Not the best idea.

I just feel kind of sad. You know, lonely.

It's only going to last the rest of the night, and I'll have forgotten all about it tomorrow, but you know how it is.

Someone talk to me?

My most recent care package (:D!) included a DVD of The Secret of NIMH. ...And I'm not entirely sure why. I mean, I guess I noticed it in the store once and went "Awww, I remember that movie," but wow. Kind of a lot of money to spend for an offhand comment. Maybe I'll do something like that in the electronics section next. Hoohooo.

I'm also thinking about getting a paid account. Even though there are only about 2 more icons I can think of wanting to have at the moment (one of which graces this post. Man, I love that panel). The 6-month one is cheap enough for my tastes, I guess.

Also saw Phantom of the Opera this weekend. It was... okay. A little better than okay. Lots to laugh at, though. Notably, the way Christine was constantly switching her affections, rapt zombie stare and all, between one guy and the other every time one of them so much as showed up in front of her and started talking. Raahhhhh.

In other news, the Government Tells [Told, I guess] Italians to Stop Moaning about the Weather. Very cute.

Overheard in the bathroom

SUITEMATE 1: Did you ever read The Odyssey?
SUITEMATE 2: Yeah.
1: What's it about?
2. It's, um... It's where he falls in love with...
3: It's about all the obstacles that he has to... how the gods punish him...
2: Well, I read it a long time ago.
3: ...for 40 years...
1: Forty years.
2: And the dog dies. ...That's the only part I remember.

Dear Aspiring Advice Columnists

My roommate is going to bed really early lately. Like 9:00.

Is there etiquette I should be observing when she does this, or is staying up okay under the circumstances?

I now officially have two boyfriends

I am flooded with shame about my lateness. Kinda.

THINGS THAT HAVE BECOME MINE SINCE I LAST CHECKED IN:
Varekai DVD (bought at the show itself, which I will not go into unless someone asks)
Random moonstone ring #5
Pwitty blue opal necklace :D
Nintendo DS

Pictures of most of the above will be forthcoming, again, if anyone asks. I custom-engraved my DS using household objects (fork tine, throwing star) all by myself. :D

Segue to Super Mario 64 discussion: I don't appreciate that you can't turn off the maps on the lower screen. I mean, they've been handy, but it makes the newer stars too easy and it's kind of sad. o_o I do love Luigi, though. Twirly backflip, meet sliced bread. Sliced bread, twirly backflip.

Now it's time for another round of Amusing Pictures!
>Move along, folks, nothing to see here
>"Without the nose..."
>Target Stores(c) is proud to carry...
>Yeah, I know what they mean. But I still liked it.

And now, here are some more things to entertain you. Well, that entertained me.

You guys are complete losers for not saying anything about the last post.

In our speech group today we did presentations on a global crisis of our choice, and one girl talked about pollution. Did you know that every ((some amount of time I can't remember)), 20 million metric tons of chemicals are released into the air worldwide?

"I mean, can you imagine for a minute how much 20 million tons is? That's like, a TON."

Your new required reading is haikucircus.com. Go back through the old strips, they get better.
